The Washington Capitals have re-signed forward Travis Boyd to a one-year, two-way deal worth $650,000 in the NHL and $115,000 in the AHL. This comes just over a week after the Capitals tendered a qualifying offer to him.

Boyd is entering his 3rd season of professional hockey. The 23-year old center improved every year with the University of Minnesota, including a 41-point, 32-game senior year. He joined the Bears on an ATO contract in the 2014-15 season before his 2-year entry-level deal with the Washington Capitals kicked in the following year. With the Bears, Boyd has totaled 118 points in 154 games. He recorded 63 points in 76 games last season. In the playoffs, he scored 8 points in 12 games. He was awarded with a selection to the AHL Second All-Star Team for his efforts in the 2016-17 season.
He will most likely be playing with the Bears again next season. With the Capitals in a bit of a crunch regarding the salary cap and number of signed players, he could make an impact in the NHL if need be.
