Philadelphia, PA – The Temple University Ice Hockey Club will be playing at The Igloo at Mt. Laurel in Mt. Laurel, NJ for the 2019-20 season and beyond. This comes after the sudden closure of the team’s home rink last season, The Rink at Old York Road.

The club talked with multiple rink owners within a 20-mile radius of campus following “The York’s” closure, but The Igloo proved to be the best option.

The team will have its own dedicated locker room, which was a must-have in the search for a new arena. The Igloo features two NHL-size rinks, a full concession stand, TVs throughout the facility, and wireless internet access. These amenities will improve the fan experience for Temple Owls supporters.

Head coach Pat Carroll, who visited multiple rinks, was impressed by The Igloo from the start.

“The Igloo management has been very supportive to our program and has agreed to meet mid-season to discuss our current situation and see if we will need to increase or alter our existing space to even further improve the overall player experience,” he said.

President Charles Ghiazza didn’t rule out the possibility of The Igloo being the permanent home of the team.

“When discussing our options with Coach Pat, we realized that there could be a difference between our short-term and long-term needs. The Igloo provides an excellent short-term solution, but also has the potential to accommodate our team in the future as well,” Ghiazza said.

Ghiazza said that The Igloo’s management helped with the decision.

“One of the most important reasons The Igloo is the best place for Temple Hockey is how accommodating its owners have already been and have offered to be in the future. They really want us there and have a great facility that suits our program well.”

Carroll wanted to thank other rink management professionals in this difficult situation, including Gilbert Davis, Pat Ferrill and Brian Peca.

“Their professionalism and interest in helping us find a new home made this a very difficult decision.”

The Igloo at Mt. Laurel is located at 3033 Fostertown Road, Mt. Laurel, NJ. The Owls begin their season at home Sep. 14 against the College of New Jersey.
