This weekend, the annual City 6 tournament, which features Temple, Villanova, Drexel, St. Joe’s, Penn, and LaSalle, will take place at Hatfield Ice, home of the Villanova Icecats.

The tournament, which won’t count towards the ECHA or ACHA standings, has been a staple in the Owls’ schedule for years.

Contested between three division one schools (Temple, Villanova, Drexel) and three division two schools (St. Joe’s, Penn, LaSalle), the City 6 begins with two games on Friday before the knockout stages begins on Saturday. All teams are guaranteed at least two games. Villanova and Drexel get a bye into the semifinal due to the schools’ results from the previous season.

The City 6 kicks off with St. Joe’s playing Penn on Friday before the Owls play LaSalle later that night. Saturday’s three-game slate will feature the losing teams of the Friday games and two games between Friday’s winning teams and Drexel and Villanova. The losing teams of the Villanova and Drexel sides of the bracket will play in the third-place game on Sunday before a champion is crowned later that day.
